The neighbors rushed over, shocked by the scene unfolding before them.

"No way! I heard Bobby often beat his wife, but who would've thought she'd kill him? Seems karma has a way of catching up."

"Didn't he just beat her in front of us this morning?"

"Oh, I feel for their daughter. Talk about bad luck, an abusive father and a mother who's a murderer."

"I heard their daughter is a top student, ranked first in her school."

"What good is that with parents like these? What a tragedy!"

The doorway was crowded with onlookers, while I followed the police to their car.

Surveillance footage clearly captured the incident. Years of enduring domestic violence drove Erica to stab Bobby.

Logically, Erica shouldn't have been able to overpower Bobby due to their size difference. But Bobby had drunk heavily that day and had high blood pressure. Erica's first stab hit the carotid artery, killing him instantly.

A police officer asked me, "Did your mother have any mental health issues?"

I shook my head, my voice strained. "No."

"Did any of her relatives have mental health problems?"

I thought for a moment. "I don't know. I grew up with my grandma, and she's mentally sound."

"Please recount what happened again."

I repeated the events as I remembered them. Everything unfolded as I had planned, except for Erica's apparent mental breakdown.

The case was closed quickly, and Erica was sentenced to ten years in prison for intentional murder.
