Diana gave a cold snort. “Exactly. I know you want a honeymoon but finish your work at the company first. Don’t ruin your father’s and my peace of mind.”

Aurora glanced around. So, families could get along like this? She had thought families like Lucas‘ would surely be stricter. She hadn’t expected the atmosphere to be this light and cheerful.

Lucas chuckled, then looked at Aurora with mock grievance. “See? My parents are this domineering. Looks like our honeymoon trip will have to be postponed.”

“What are you saying?” Diana shot him a stunned look. “We never said you couldn’t go on a honeymoon. It’s just that you haven’t worked hard enough.”

“Haven’t I worked hard enough?” Lucas couldn’t hold back his protest. “If Dad hadn’t insisted on retiring at thirty, would I even be stuck working here? I’d already be enjoying life at home with my wife and kids.”

Aurora was speechless.

Edward wasn’t about to back down. “I call that early training. You just don’t know how good you’ve had it.”

“Alright, I’ll give it a try,” Diana answered, indulging him.

The two of them ignored Lucas completely. Aurora looked from one to the other, then finally let out a small laugh.

Lucas shot Aurora a look of mock annoyance. “Honey, they’re ganging up on me, and you’re sitting there laughing at me.”

“It’s fine, I’m on the side of fairness.”

Diana burst out laughing, her smile so wide her teeth showed. “See, Aurora knows just what to say. That’s the difference with daughters–girls are soft and sweet, so much better to look at than boys.”

“So basically, I’m the extra one in this family now?”

Aurora couldn’t help finding it amusing to see Lucas acting jealous.

Usually, he was always calm and steady in front of her. It was only in front of his parents that he seemed to slip back into the role of a child.
