Sunlight streamed into the study, warming every corner.

Andrew sat in his chair, dressed in a crisp white shirt. He flipped through a book casually until Debra burst in.

"Where were you last night?" she demanded, plopping onto the sofa. "You won't believe how awful Marion was. Dwayne and Yvette are so nice. How did they end up with a jerk like him? If you'd been there, you'd have had my back."

Andrew didn't say a word. Debra whipped her head around to glare at him. "I got picked on. Why aren't you reacting?"

"I'm listening," he said, closing his book with a faint smile. "Sounds like you don't like him."

"Yep. He is my least favorite person on Earth." She puffed up, fuming. "Even my parents never treated me like that. Who does he think he is?"

"Our princess is getting feistier every day," Andrew teased, tapping the bell on his desk.

Barton came in with tea, setting it in front of Debra.

"Thanks, Barton," she said.

"No problem." He left the cup and stepped out.

Andrew said, "If you don't like Marion, I can help teach him a lesson."

"Make him soak himself in a fountain and say sorry 100 times." Debra gritted her teeth.

She slipped it on eagerly. "I thought it was gone."

"It was," Andrew said, pinching her nose. "Keep your favorite things safe and don't trust people so easily anymore."

Debra nodded. "Don't worry. I'm done with Shelia."

She clutched the bracelet.

It was a gift from him. She adored it and never took it off.

If Shelia hadn't tricked her, it would not have left her sight.
