Her demands were just to mess with Fermin. Men like Marion or Randy were rare to find.

"Don't wanna marry? Fine," Fermin said. "I'll take care of you forever."

"Exactly," Liza grinned. "Living with you is great. Dating is just coexisting with someone else. Why bother?"

"That's nonsense," he chuckled.

Her eyes caught the glass bottle on the desk. It was glinting rainbow colors in the sunlight. "What's that?"

"Not something important." He tucked it away.

Liza was curious, but she didn't press, respecting his privacy.

"Alright, I'm off to prepare for tomorrow's lesson."

"Go on."

Fermin checked his watch, bored. His life was a grind.

"Got it," he said, leaning against the window.

Sunlight poured in, warm and bright.

"Fermin, where is Liza's bottle?" Marian called out, cradling Liza as she came downstairs.

Fermin snapped out of it, blinking at the scene.
