Debra caught on quickly.

Erica was scared Randy would turn out like Hunter.

At first, Hunter had been all sweet. But over time, he'd treated Barbara like garbage.

"I can't speak for others," Debra said, "but Randy? No way."

"Why not?" Erica asked.

"Because he's always the one getting his butt kicked," Debra replied.

Few men in this world would willingly let the same woman bully them for over a decade.

"Fair point." Erica nodded, sinking onto the couch.

She was still uneasy since the wedding was just two days away. Her parents' failed marriage loomed large. She couldn't shake her fear.

She'd told Debra about her family, so Debra knew what she was afraid of.

Randy was busy with wedding preparations. When he came back, he seemed not to notice Erica's mood.

Debra dropped hints at dinner, but Randy's cluelessness didn't budge.

Erica shook her head, understanding the situation. She was always a tough woman, and Randy probably didn't think she'd ever be upset.

"Erica..." Debra tried to comfort her, but Erica wasn't in the mood to talk.

She just wanted to sleep.

Debra watched Erica head upstairs alone.

Randy had been in the bathroom forever, and Debra was worried.

"No."

She looked away, and he grinned. "You wear your feelings on your face. I'd be blind not to see it."

"Then why didn't you say anything when Debra was hinting at dinner?"

"I swear, I noticed. I know you hate mushy stuff. If I'd made a scene with Debra and Marion watching, you'd have been miserable. Look, I'm only saying this once. I'm marrying you and no one else. If I ever cheat, I'm done for."

"Don't say that." She put her hand on his mouth, then took the flowers. "No more of this."

"No more of what?"

"All these flowers. Where am I supposed to put them?"

Their new place was still being renovated, so they were staying at the Houston Mansion. This many roses would take forever to clean up.
