Anastasia was impressed. Mr. Lynn and the others were far more effective than she could have hoped. She hadn't even had to say much, and her goal was already accomplished.

She smirked and turned her gaze to the pale, rigid Lauren. At that moment, all eyes in the room were on her.

"I…" Lauren's voice was unsteady. She never imagined the directors would actually come, let alone side so completely with Anastasia.

It was over. How could she possibly explain this away? The Brennans weren't fools.

"Miss Sterling, why did you call us here?" Ms. Evelyn asked, breaking the tense silence.

"Oh, right," Anastasia said, glancing at Lauren. "Ms. Brennan here has been injured and claims I had my people attack her right at the entrance of Unison Pharma. A very bold, very arrogant move on my part, apparently. She demanded that I come here and apologize."

"What?!" Ms. Evelyn exclaimed in disbelief. "Is she talking about being escorted out of the building? Your men simply walked her to the door and left! My assistant saw the whole thing! When did anyone lay a hand on her?"

She turned her fiery gaze back to the family. "It's not enough that she tries to steal Miss Sterling's company, now she's resorting to slander?"
