Anastasia glanced at him, no longer as upset as before. She snuggled against his arm, leaning her head on his shoulder and casting a look at Stella that was full of smug confidence.

She had every reason to be confident. As long as her hubby was on her side, what could anyone do to her?

She deliberately shot Stella a triumphant, provocative smile.

Stella was immediately incensed. "Great-Grandma—"

"Stella," Harrison cut in. His voice was calm, yet so devoid of warmth it sent a shiver down one's spine. His piercing gaze fixed on her. "Has it been so long since I last punished you that you've forgotten how to behave in my presence?"

Stella's face went white.

She bit her lip, feeling wronged and defiant. "I…"

"Stella, apologize to Anastasia," Elder Mrs. Lancaster said, her brow furrowed in rare disapproval. "Anastasia is your aunt. How could you say such things in front of her? What if you hurt her feelings?"

"But Naomi…"

"Your Naomi and your Uncle Harrison have nothing to do with each other. Don't speak such nonsense!" the old lady declared firmly. While she had once thought highly of the Lawson girl, it meant nothing if Harrison wasn't interested. Besides, Harrison was married to Anastasia now, and she couldn't be more pleased with her new granddaughter-in-law.

"Apologize," Harrison commanded, his voice low.

Stella looked from her stern great-grandmother to Harrison's cold face, her lower lip trembling with indignation.

No one was on her side.

She shot Anastasia a venomous glare. "I'm sorry!"
