"Oh? What is it?" Anastasia asked, surprised.

"As you know, for a pharmaceutical company like Unison Pharma, the most important department is Research and Development."

"And the R&D department has gone on strike."

Anastasia's brow furrowed. She immediately understood why Sean couldn't handle this. He was an excellent manager who could perfectly handle the mass resignation Regan had orchestrated, but a strike in the R&D department was a different beast entirely.

The researchers were the lifeblood of the company, responsible for improving old drugs and developing new ones. Unlike other employees who could be replaced, talented and experienced researchers were incredibly difficult to find.

"Regan's loyalists should all be gone by now. Why would the R&D department strike?" she asked, her eyes narrowing. To strike at a time like this could only mean they were unhappy with her. But if they weren't supporting Regan, what other reason could there be?

"It's a tricky situation. I only found out the reason after asking Mr. Lynn," Sean explained. "The head of the R&D department is one of Lauren's people."

Anastasia’s gaze sharpened. "Lauren?"

"Yes. A few years ago, the department was staffed by company veterans. But ever since Lauren joined, she used her connections to gradually replace them all."

"The current head is a man named Jonas Moore, the young master of the Moore family and one of Lauren's most devoted admirers."

"Two years ago, he turned down better opportunities to join Unison Pharma, just for her. Now, the R&D department is essentially his kingdom. When he called for a strike, the other researchers followed without hesitation."

Anastasia’s expression was calm. "What are their demands?"

Sean glanced at her. "Jonas says he only works for Lauren. Anyone else… is unworthy of being his boss."

Anastasia let out a cold laugh. *Unworthy?*

If he felt she was so unworthy, he could have just resigned along with the others. Why didn't he?
