Harrison stood there, speechless, his face a storm cloud of fury. He closed his eyes, forcing himself to take a deep breath.
He reached down, grabbed her, and flipped her over.
Anastasia gasped for air, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson. Her eyes, hazy and shimmering with unshed tears, were both dazed and captivating.
“Drunk, are we?” Harrison leaned over her, cupping her face in his hand. His dark eyes scrutinized her, searching for any sign of deception.
Her gaze slowly focused on his face, and her eyes welled up. “Harrison,” she whimpered, “there were monsters! They wanted to eat me! I was so scared!” She clung to his arm, trying to burrow into his chest for safety, but her body was as limp as a noodle.
Harrison’s handsome face remained cold. “What monsters? Weren’t those the men you ordered for yourself?”
Even in her drunken state, her survival instincts were sharp. “What men?” she said quickly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about! I didn’t order anyone!”
She deflected the blame so smoothly that he almost suspected she was faking. But as he studied her, all he saw was a girl shaking her head like a bobblehead, her eyes clearly unfocused. His Anastasia wasn’t that good of an actress.
His fingers traced her cheek, a dangerous glint in his narrowed eyes. “If you didn’t order them, who did?”
“It was Stella!” Anastasia declared loudly. “She wanted me to pick one so I would give you back to Naomi!” Her small, flushed face contorted into a fierce pout. “She wishes! I wouldn’t trade you for a hundred men! You’re mine! And I’m not sharing!”
As he looked at her, the inferno of rage that had been building inside him unexpectedly fizzled out. He gazed at her for a long moment before leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
“Good. You remember that.”
The kiss made her dizzy with delight. “More,” she mumbled happily. “Kiss me more…”
