Easton smiled at Clara. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Clara returned the smile politely. "Come in, please. You should have given us a heads-up; I would have had the butler prepare dinner."

Pamela, still holding Easton's hand, smiled shyly. "I just wanted to bring Easton to meet Dad. We're not eating here tonight. We were going to grab some street food near his old university."

Clara's smile tightened slightly, her expression one of a loving sister exasperated by her mischievous younger sibling. "Nonsense. It's Easton's first time visiting; you can't possibly eat out. You're staying for dinner tonight, no arguments."

Pamela pouted and looked at Easton. "Alright, then."

"You must be tired from your flight. Take Easton upstairs to rest for a bit. I'll have dinner arranged," Clara said, glancing at the time. "The driver has already gone to the old estate to pick up Dad. He should be here in about four hours, so you have plenty of time to relax."

Pamela and Easton nodded and headed upstairs.

"My father bought this house for my brother, my sister, and me," Pamela explained as they walked. "He always insisted we grow up close, to foster a sense of unity."

"I never knew the Edwards family had an older daughter," Easton said, probing gently. "You didn't mention her before we came. If I'd known, I would have bought her a gift."

Easton was being cautious. Alicia had already briefed him on the Edwards family, and Tyrone Lynch had warned him as well: no one in the Edwards family was simple, especially not the patriarch or this mysterious eldest sister.
