Crystal’s eyes flew wide open. “What? Slander and blackmail? Wait, Dylan, let me explain—”

Dylan set his phone down, not even bothering to look at her. “I don’t have time for your excuses. You can explain it to the officers when they get here.”

Crystal was stunned by how ruthless he was. Not only did he refuse to believe a word she said, but he’d actually called the police to have her arrested.

It wasn’t long before Mr. Eden arrived with several officers in tow, marching straight into Dylan’s office.

Crystal stood there, pale as a sheet.

Clinging to a final shred of hope, she pleaded, “Dylan, please, you can’t let them arrest me. I’m telling the truth!”

No one paid her any attention.

She tried again, her voice trembling, eyes brimming with indignation. “You don’t believe me, fine, but how could you do this to me?”

Dylan didn’t even flinch—he just found her incessant whining grating.

With a wave of his hand, he signaled the officers to take her away.

Out in the hall, Crystal struggled desperately. “I’m innocent! You can’t arrest me!”

But the officers ignored her protests, gripping her tightly as they led her to the patrol car.

Garcia stood nearby, having watched the entire spectacle unfold.

A moment ago, she’d been feeling rather smug, convinced that Rebecca was having an affair. If she told Mrs. Austin, the entire Austin family would explode, and Rebecca would be thrown out for sure.

But then, just as she thought she’d scored a victory, Dylan had called the police—and it was Crystal, not Rebecca, who was accused of slander.

Now Garcia found herself at a loss. Was Rebecca really having an affair? Or was Crystal just making things up, trying to blackmail Dylan for money?

Joyce headed back to her family’s estate, and Samuel, after dropping them off at Sunset Villa Estates, was about to leave as well.

Just as Samuel was about to drive away, Rebecca called out, “Samuel.”

Rebecca waited until the kids were inside before leaning in and lowering her voice. “Samuel, what do you think about Joyce?”

Samuel frowned, not quite following. “What do you mean, what do I think?”

Rebecca was only guessing, but during dinner, she’d noticed Joyce’s gaze lingering on Samuel more than once, as if she was especially interested in him.

Along with a few other subtle hints, Rebecca couldn’t shake the feeling that Joyce liked Samuel. But Joyce had never said anything, and Rebecca couldn’t just come out and ask—what if she was wrong?
