Asher was fuming. "What's your attitude about this?"

Lemira, catching the edge in Asher's voice, retorted, "And what exactly did she endure on my behalf?"

"You were the one who offended Mrs. Grace Draven earlier. Just because Mrs. Amanda has your back, don't think you can deny what happened."

"You think I'm like Evelina, abandoning a sick Mrs. Amanda to cozy up to Mrs. Grace Draven, don't you?" Lemira's voice was sharp as a knife. "If that's the case, you've just made enemies with the Everhart family. How do you plan to keep your place in Orvin?"

Lucian chimed in, standing by Lemira. "Lemmy's right. We owe her today. Evelina's just a walking disaster, causing trouble wherever she goes. She got what she deserved!"

Asher glanced at Evelina, her face full of indignation, and spoke coolly, "This is how it's going to be."

"I said no!" Lemira remained firm.

Asher stared her down. "It's not up to you to agree or not. The foundation hasn't been transferred to you yet. Just this once, Eve will handle it. After that, you call the shots, alright?"

Evelina's lips curled into a sly smirk. She wasn't about to let go of such an opportunity.

Lucian sided with Lemira. "Asher, isn't this favoritism?"

"You all call it favoritism, but I'm just being fair! The foundation's still my responsibility!"

Asher couldn't stand Lemira's boldness and wanted to curb her defiance.

The door to the lounge swung open. Orion walked in, his face a mask of calm, having overheard the heated exchange. He went straight to Lemira, taking her hand with a steady grip. Lemira was taken aback by his sudden appearance.

Orion turned to Asher, his gaze unwavering. "Your version of fairness means Lemira has to back down and lose out. Seems like your hand's a little off balance, favoring one side. Just as expected from the Waverlies’ son-in-law!"

With her goal achieved, Lemira dropped the topic. The bait was set; now, she just had to wait for the big fish to bite. She glanced at Orion. "Let's go."

Asher glared at Orion, disdain evident. "I won't waste my breath. You're not good enough for my sister, and you're not getting any resources or benefits from her."

"Asher, stay out of my life!" Lemira defended Orion fiercely, unwilling to let Asher belittle him.

Orion remained unfazed, squeezing Lemira's hand reassuringly. Asher clearly hadn't realized who he was dealing with.
