It wasn’t Lemira who caused all this mess. It was Evelina.

Asher felt like his brain was being put through a blender, slowly piecing together the truth. But before he could speak, Evander jumped in.

“Lemira, stop pretending to be the good guy here. All these moves in the foundation are pretty much standard. You’re just using this as an excuse to go after Eve, aren’t you?”

Lemira found the whole situation laughable. “Evelina broke the law. That’s a fact.”

“Is this really worth making such a fuss about? You’re just targeting Eve on purpose. She’s going to be your sister-in-law, and I won’t let you treat her badly!”

Lemira chuckled bitterly. There was no point arguing with someone so oblivious.

“Save it for the police,” Lemira said, not wanting to waste any more words.

Evander sneered. “Do you really think you can threaten Eve? The supplier already admitted to switching the expired tampons on his own. Eve just took a little kickback. It’s not a big deal.”

Lemira gritted her teeth. He wasn’t entirely wrong, but she wasn’t about to let Evelina get away with it. “It’s not up to me. The police will handle it.”

With that, Lemira left the Langston family mansion.

Evelina shot a venomous glare at Lemira’s retreating figure. One day, she’d make sure to get rid of that woman. But for now, she needed to protect herself.

“Evander, it’s all my fault for causing this mess and making you and Asher argue,” Evelina whimpered.

“Eve, you’re my fiancée. Of course, I’ll stand by you. Asher will understand,” Evander reassured her, glancing at Asher. After all, it was Asher’s negligence that led to his leg amputation, forcing Lemira to sign the consent form.

Both Lemira and Asher owed him.

Asher snorted in frustration, storming out. How had he not realized before how foolish and malicious Evelina was? He’d hoped to use Evelina to keep Lemira in line, but she turned out to be more trouble than she was worth.

Asher drove off, spotting Lemira walking by the roadside. He rolled down his window. “Need a ride?”
