Lemira raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "What's Thaddeus's aunt got to do with this?"

"Thaddeus's aunt married into the Waverly family and now runs everything over there," Orion explained, breaking down the Waverly family tree for her.

Lemira had always assumed Stella was the rightful heir to the Waverly legacy, but it turned out the second wife and her family had taken control of everything.

"I thought Asher had invited Stella's stepmother today, but it turns out it's Edith."

"Stella's stepmother, from what I've heard, comes from a modest background. She rarely socializes and spends her days at home with the kids, not involving herself in the company's affairs—let alone Stella's issues."

Lemira nodded, understanding that a widowed stepmother with little influence wouldn't have much say in Stella's matters.

Halfway through their meal, Lemira's phone buzzed incessantly.

She glanced at it—Asher was calling. "I bet he's found out I'm in Bistrova too," she said.

Orion looked at her thoughtfully. "See what he wants."

Lemira nodded, picking up the call and putting it on speaker. Asher's voice came through, "Lemira, I heard you're in Bistrova. I invited Mrs. Waverly for dinner to discuss the foundation. You should join us and have a word with her."

Talk to Mrs. Waverly? Lemira wondered what Asher was up to.

She exchanged a glance with Orion but didn't respond immediately.

Asher continued, "Lemira, I know you're not fond of the Langston family, but networking in Orvin can only help you. Besides, I've already set things up with Mrs. Waverly. You won't need to do anything."

Lemira could hear the imploring tone in Asher's voice; it seemed he was the one in need of her presence.
