A bodyguard walking beside him suddenly tensed up, his expression uneasy. "Boss, something's off about these laborers."

Devin frowned, finally sensing something was wrong. "What do you mean?"

The bodyguard lowered his voice. "They look more like street thugs—the kind who run with gangs."

Devin's heart skipped a beat. He turned to look and saw the laborers ahead quickening their pace, as if trying to flee.

He barked, "Hey, you up ahead! Stop right there—I've got questions for you!"

Instead of stopping, the laborers broke into a run.

Furious, he roared, "Stop! One more step, and you'll be sorry!"

The threat only made them sprint.

Devin snarled, "After them!"

It was bad enough to be repeatedly humiliated by Jack and his crew. But now, he'd been duped by a few conmen dressed up as construction workers. If this got out back in Tarthy, he'd lose every shred of dignity he had left.

The bodyguards sprang into action, chasing with all their might.

Realizing they were being pursued, the laborers panicked and ducked into an alley.

Soon, the sounds of a violent scuffle and cries of pain echoed from within.

Hearing this, Devin smirked, his anger easing slightly. "So, Jack's bunch wants to go to war with me? Fine. But you little punks? You've got a death wish, messing with someone like me!"

But his triumph was short-lived.
