Gerard's favorable results during the election had only come to pass thanks to the support provided by the Roe and Trevell families.

When it came down to it, election campaigns were extremely expensive. In order to ensure that Gerard would be the candidate who was appointed to be the next mayor of Tarthy City, both the Roe and Trevell families had invested upward of hundreds of millions of dollars into his campaign.

If something were to happen to the Roe and Trevell families during a crucial part of his campaign, it wouldn't matter if Gerard had the staunch support of the voters, it didn't matter if Boleria's Cline family supported him, his campaign would become wrought with uncertainty.

Especially when one considered how the Carpenters and the Lycans would be working behind the scenes to tear his campaign apart. Gerard would be stuck in quite the disadvantageous predicament then.

Gerard's face was a mask of calm. He didn't immediately respond to Winona's worries. He was focusing his efforts on studying Jack, as well as his entourage that stood behind him. He was trying to discern what other powers Jack and the Lycans could possibly possess. Was it possible that they had even more hidden power?

If he gave in to Jack and his entourage tonight, his authority would suffer a terrible blow even if he was successfully appointed as the next mayor of Tarthy City.
