Wilhelmina bit down hard on her lower lip. "I don't remember what you said. Could you remind me?" she replied flatly.

"Trying to play dumb? Okay. Let me refresh your memory. The first time we met, you said that if I surpassed you within a year, your fate would be mine to decide. You would do everything on my terms. Do you recall now?"

Bastard. Monster. Of course, he wouldn't let her off that easily.

Wilhelmina repeatedly cursed Jack in her heart. In the end, she gave a small nod. "I remember."

Jack leaned in slightly, his face drawing closer to hers. Wilhelmina was almost as beautiful as Feena, Bella, and the other pretty ladies.

A faint smile played on Jack's lips. "Well then, isn't it time you honored your promise?"

"I…" Wilhelmina had expected that Jack wouldn't simply let her go. But even so, a wave of sorrow surged within her.

She murmured unwillingly, "Fine. What do you want me to do? I'll just do it."

"Good. Pleasure me here."

His voice was rough and unforgiving, like a devil from hell.

"You can ask anything of me—even if you told me to take a life, I would do it. But if you're asking me to sell my body? Absolutely not. My body belongs to the man I marry, not to a devil like you."

"A devil? Funny. To the rest of the world, I'm your future husband." Jack chuckled and took a step toward her. "And besides, you agreed to do whatever I say without question. That means you gave up your dignity. Or have you changed your mind and decided to break your promise?"

Wilhelmina caught the subtle, masculine scent on Jack, and it only made her panic deepen. Her thoughts spiraled as she took step after step back—until she hit the balcony railing. There was nowhere left to retreat.

Wilhelmina raised her hand between them, stopping him from getting nearer. "Don't… Don't come any closer. Yes, I agreed to do whatever you want, but that doesn't mean forfeiting my body or dignity. So, I'm asking you to show some respect."
