“He turned me down! Who does he think he is?” Linnea looked about ready to throw something in a fit of rage, but Sylvia quickly put a hand on her arm.

“Linnea, you’re an award-winning actress. You have to rise above this. Control your temper, okay?” she whispered. “Otherwise, the whole crew will see, and the paparazzi are everywhere.”

Sylvia’s words helped Linnea rein herself in, though she was still bristling with anger. “Why? Why is everyone hooked on Calliope? What’s so great about her? She’s not even famous—just a scriptwriter, and not an especially brilliant one, either! What’s everyone so impressed by?”

Sylvia gave a weary shrug. Personally, she found Calliope quite impressive. With her reputation as a talented but private writer, it was clear she didn’t crave the spotlight, and the fact that such a celebrated director wanted her on board spoke for itself.

“What’s a writer even doing on set all the time?” Linnea grumbled. “She doesn’t need to be here every minute, right? She’s obviously throwing her weight around to get close to the men. I bet she has her eye on Julius, too!”

Sylvia just blinked. Was that really what was happening? She glanced over at Calliope’s group, skeptical.

But it didn’t look like Calliope was seducing anyone. In fact, it was Julius and Ulysses who seemed eager to fuss over her. Calliope herself barely looked up from her phone, only giving the people around her a passing nod now and then. Meanwhile, Julius and Ulysses kept bringing her snacks, opening her drinks, and handing her slices of fruit as if waiting on royalty.

It wasn’t Calliope trying to attract anyone; if anything, the guys seemed smitten.
