Herbert flinched. He shot Yardley an incredulous look. "Are you serious?"

"Fairfax is her brother. What could he possibly do to her? Her going back to him is only temporary!"

Yardley didn't trust Fairfax in general, but he trusted him completely on one thing: Fairfax would never put Susanna in danger. So, a trade it was.
