"It's warm. Come on, be good. You need to drink something," he coaxed, pressing the call button for the doctor. She needed a full examination now that she was awake.

Starla obediently took a few sips. She was parched. After three days with no food or water, her stomach felt completely hollow.

The doctors rushed in and ran a battery of tests. By the time they finished, half an hour had passed. They cleared her to eat, though they insisted on keeping it light.

Once the room was empty again, Rudolf brought in a bowl of warm, creamy soup. It looked homemade.
