"You still need to tell him," Amos insisted.

"No! I can't let him know." If Fairfax found out, he would physically stop her from leaving.

"Yardley specifically demanded that I return," she said, her voice laced with despair.

At the end of the day, Yardley was just using her family to pull her strings. Where could she possibly run? There was no escaping him. He held all the cards.

"You still need to talk to your brother," Amos maintained firmly. Whatever sick game Yardley was playing, Fairfax deserved to know.
