Tanya let out a heavy sigh over the line. "I really have no idea what to do right now. Do you have any advice?"

"My advice? Be the wedge," Starla said flatly. "If telling him the truth about that hundred bucks causes a rift between him and his mother, then let it cause a rift."

"Wow. Tell me how you really feel..." Tanya muttered, clearly a bit stunned.

"You asked me because you actually want to keep this baby, don't you?"

Tanya paused. "If it wasn't for his mother pulling that stunt, yes, I absolutely would. But that insult... I just can't get past it."

"Then get the procedure done."

Starla didn't sugarcoat it.

"Wait, seriously? You're not even going to try and talk me out of it?" Tanya asked, flabbergasted. She had called her best friend hoping for some emotional support, maybe a reason to hold on, and instead, Starla was handing her a sledgehammer.

"And dump Darian," Starla added seamlessly.

Tanya was speechless.

Was this how best friends operated? But then again, wasn't this exactly what Tanya had told her when things were falling apart with Fairfax?
