She turned her head and instantly met Darian's terrifyingly cold face.

Tanya jumped. "You..."

Her mind struggled to catch up. Wait, wasn't she just in the operating room? How was she in his car?

Darian slowly turned to glare at her. He had driven through the night, and his eyes were heavily bloodshot. But what was truly frightening was the absolute, glacial fury in his gaze.

Tanya swallowed hard.

"So, you just refuse to listen to reason, don't you?" Darian's voice was dangerously low. "Did you not read a single text I sent you?"

He had practically poured his heart out in those messages, yet she had still marched straight into that clinic to terminate the pregnancy without looking back. If he hadn't made it in time today, his child would already be gone.

"How could you be so heartless? That's a human life!" he gritted out, his jaw clenched so tight it looked like it might snap.

Heartless?

Hearing that word, Tanya stared back at him. "My biggest mistake was getting pregnant in the first place."

She felt a deep sense of guilt toward the baby, yes. But that was it.

If she wasn't ruthless enough to end this pregnancy now, she would be condemning herself to a lifetime of misery. There was simply too much to face if she went through with it. It was better to rip the band-aid off now.

Darian lit a cigarette, took two vicious drags, and abruptly, the car pulled to a stop.

From the driver's seat, Shaw spoke up. "Mr. Lynn, we're here."

After driving through the night, there was no way they could make the long trip straight back to Marina City. Darian had ordered Shaw to book a hotel room in Hansville City so they could rest.

The car door opened.

Darian stepped out first, then looked back at Tanya with icy expectation. She stared right back, making no move to get out.

"What? Do you need a written invitation? Or do you want me to carry you?" he snapped.

"You're being—"

Before she could finish, Darian reached in, grabbed her arm, and hauled her out of the car. Without giving her a second to react, he swept her off her feet and into his arms.
