They had practically turned the place upside down over the last few weeks and still hadn't found a single trace of her.

"I don't think Miss Starla is the only one advising Amos," Garret said thoughtfully.

Yardley raised an eyebrow, pausing with his cigarette. "What do you mean?"

"There seems to be a mysterious figure operating out of Cyrus Sea."

"A mysterious figure?"

Garret nodded. "Yes."

Yardley frowned. "Are you sure it isn't Starla?"

"It doesn't fit her profile. Amos frequently takes his men to a heavily guarded villa for meetings, and he seems to take orders directly from whoever is inside."

Yardley's eyes narrowed. Anyone who could make Amos fall in line and take orders was no ordinary player.

"Who is it?"

"We don't know. Our operatives can't get anywhere near the place. The security is ironclad."

Garret had been trying to breach the villa's perimeter since he discovered it, but every attempt had been instantly shut down.

"Now that is interesting," Yardley murmured. "My little sister is playing tactician from the shadows, and there's a heavy hitter in Cyrus Sea backing Amos."

Someone capable of commanding Amos's absolute loyalty was definitely a force to be reckoned with.

"With that kind of backing, Amos might actually have a decent shot against Licht," Garret noted.

Yardley didn't look convinced. A decent shot? Taking down Licht wasn't a walk in the park. The old general's roots ran deep, and his network was terrifyingly complex.

Thinking back to how Fairfax had killed Brinley to protect Starla, and how Starla was now going straight for Licht's throat without a second of hesitation...
