"You really came back? Didn't think you had the guts."

"Emily, get over here."

But to his shock, I didn't move.

Ethan let out a hollow laugh.

"My wife, and my dear brother. Together. How poetic."

He scoffed, his expression hardening into something cold and cruel.

"Emily, isn't this what you wanted?"

He spread his arms wide, mocking.

"Just don't come crawling back."

When the red-stamped divorce decree was finally in our hands, I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

"Emily, you do realize Liam isn't in line for the Johnson fortune, right?"

Ethan's voice was slick with condescension.

"You couldn't have me, so you settled for the next best thing? Really?"

He looked from me to Liam, a smug grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.
