Chapter 1782: Suspicious Groups

Immediately upon heading back to the territory, Althea sent a notice to every citizen in the territory, including those outside after paying for the extra costs. She did not care for the spies right now. As long as her people were safe, she did not mind them finding out they were already onto them.

[Suspicious groups of fighters have been sighted near the territory.]

[For everyone outside the territory: Return to the Town at once, please group together if you encounter people you know, and do not trust outsiders you are unfamiliar with.]

At this point, there were too many people and outsiders in the territory, so trying to be subtle was not possible.

"What?"

"Are we getting attacked?"

"We’re Level 2 now, damnit!"

"ARGH!"

"Darn, no wonder I’ve been feeling cold lately."

"Same! Shivering, I am!"

That said, while things really were a bit scary, the guests noticed that no one was really panicking at all.

There was definitely a sense of urgency palpable around.

For example, everyone who was just lounging around, eating, or playing immediately headed elsewhere, likely to do tasks for the territory.

But... the usual fear people had when they were about to enter a bloody war? There was barely any of that among the citizens. Only those who were very new and those guests from lower-ranked territories seemed to feel a bit more panicked.

Apprehension, maybe, but there was no one with a position panicking in terror at all. It was an interesting thing to see.

The queues to all the system shops, especially the Pharmacy, doubled in length and then tripled within an hour.

The weapons stores, system or not, were also filled up immediately, and there were also those who headed straight to forests, inside and outside the walls, to gather loose resources.

The open spaces next to the warehouse (they realized there was a large roofed area, too) would soon see small hills of loose resources, and some people would be assigned to throw them into the warehouse as needed.

Though no one could see what was inside the System warehouses, designated people could certainly place things in.

The newcomers couldn’t help but blink as everyone got to work as if they knew exactly what they had to do.

They wouldn’t have been surprised if they were guards, but everyone—even the children and teens—worked.

In some areas, it was a group of little kids, probably just around seven to ten years of age, and they all had large baskets hanging on their backs, heading to the parks.

There were some curious aborigines who approached them, handing them a few silvers for their time and information. "Where are you going?"

"Gather resources! We’re weak and would be hidden in wars, but we wanna collect stuff while we can! It also gives extra pocket money. The territory buys them for more during these times, you see."

Speaking of this, the kids and old people were given priority to gather in the forests within the walls.

If a capable adult was gathering resources in the inner walls, he’d better have a decent excuse (i.e., he was preparing to fight but decided to help out a bit with resources); otherwise, he’d probably be judged for taking away weak people’s opportunities.

There were also others who asked adults, relatively low-level ones, who were going around with haste.

"Oh, I’m off to buy more weapons and potions," he said, rubbing his arms. Darn, was he that scared, or was it just getting colder? "Seems like there will be a war, so we have to start preparing well." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

They blinked, looking at the guy who was no more than level 14. One of the aborigine’s companions remembered him, too. They remembered the guy was a waiter in one of the restaurants.

"Are you a fighter?"

"No, but I will join the fight," he said, and that was that.
