In this standout chapter of the Romance novel After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World, NispedanaSan introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
The enemy plans were definitely related to attacking the bunkers at the same time and overwhelm them with numbers. A lot of the people coming here were powerhouses above level 30, so their plan was obvious.
By disrupting their timing, the Alterrans could have better chances of dealing with the enemy group by group, making it a bit more manageable.
That said, the chaos alone would signal the others to come, so they’d probably arrive, and what they needed to do was to take down as many as they could before more reinforcements arrived.
Guarding the area around the bunkers with Althea were Lady Gaia, a few teams of guards, and several trusted mercenary teams. There couldn’t be too many people because the area was only so big. Too many and they could hit each other instead.
Anyway, there was only one entrance to the bunkers, and that was the only thing they had to stop the enemies from approaching.
Anyway, with these powerhouses on the ground, Althea could safely shoot above the sentries, adding to the deadly projectiles targeting the growing number of Valov fighters approaching.
Althea was forced to maximize her bow and arrow set this time, and each shot consumed mana.
Valov really sent thousands of mercenaries past level 20 here, hundreds of level 30s, and a few dozen just within the level cap. This did not even include their own citizens. From what they knew from the Post Office news, Valov really did not hold back, sending a good two-thirds of his population to this war. It was no wonder that every one of their powerhouses were stuck along the walls.
That was hundreds of thousands of people, most of whom took advantage of the cleared sentries and the broken walls, and many also managed to get through the more susceptible areas.
From what she knew, a good portion of that neighborhood was filled with battles. They were system buildings, so they were sturdy, but the fenestrations and roofings had been destroyed, and it had only been a few hours since the war started.
The administration hoped to limit the damage in certain sectors, but with the enemy’s barrage, that wasn’t possible. What they could do was protect themselves as much as possible.
The bright side was that there was only one place with a sustained leak (due to the broken walls), and the rest of the places were blocked after some people managed to go over the walls. For example, the area where Waran’s hundred or so people went through now had a few more powerhouses, making sure that no one from this side could follow Waran’s path.
Waran’s team had gone against Mao and were blocked for some hours. However, the enemy had their priorities straight—which was to head to the bunkers—so they immediately divided into groups who’d block Mao’s team, and then people who would head straight to the bunker areas.
On the other hand, several specialized powerhouse teams had shielded themselves against the level 7 sentries, and kicked down the guards on the battlements, they were not that many, probably a cumulative of a few hundred at most. Many of them had been hidden underground thanks to the goblins’ tunnels, so not enough people were mobilized to block their way.
However, all these paths had been controlled almost as soon as the enemies created them.
Their own goblins even headed out to create traps for the enemies, and many of the enemies fell down deeper underground when they neared the walls.
This meant that as long as they controlled the breaches, they would not lose this war, which required half of the people who went through the array to enter the walls.
Right now, there are hundreds of level 20s and 30s trying to push through to the inner area.
The Ministers were grouped together for easier protection. The enemies were targeting them, after all. Like now, where hundreds of powerhouses were targeting the bunkers, there should be other teams targeting Mathilda and the others as well.
The Elders with no fighting capability, like Gru and Rosalind, were indeed inside the bunkers. Others, without much use outside of wars, despite being able to fight, like Ramil, were also asked to stay there.
Ansel was almost, almost, thrown in as well, but the guy adamantly refused and even threw a damned tantrum. He was fighting alongside Oslo this time. However, the two of them did change their hair colors a bit, just so it didn’t make things obvious for the enemies to target them specifically.
Most of the enemies headed to the bunkers, and for now, they were defending well, especially with the sentries assisting.
