Chapter 1974: Messing Up the Array Area (Part 2)

The Lord actually lost consciousness in anger, but not before causing dozens of casualties on his side!

"Wow."

If Alterrans were here, they would also exclaim the same, inwardly wondering: Who’d have thought they’d deal with that pesky Lord this way?

So anticlimactic, but also amusing.

"Should we head to the array now?"

Baku pondered while Sephra thought for a few moments. "There are still tens of thousands ready to enter the array," she said. "It would be better to cause a few more troubles."

She had smelled a lot of half-orcs here, though they had probably been sent to war. She had no good feelings about this territory and instinctively wanted to cause more trouble.

Baku paused and nodded. "Trouble, it is."

...

The arrays at the town level were always located within a kilometer of the territory delineation, which was where the loose sentries were in Alterra.

The location of the arrival array itself varied, but it was always at this approximate distance. On the other hand, the departure array was always directly aligned with one of the gates.

Valov’s departing array happened to be aligned with the main walls this time, and it had the densest sentries, and plenty of people—thousands—were there as backup.

They were called not long ago, with Lord Balthazar summoning them to help out in the war. They were definitely confused about how it got to this point. After all, it was imperative that a certain portion of the forces remained in the territory to guard it.

One had to know that the fighting force left behind was just the skeletal forces. Only a fraction of them were left behind, and their function was mostly the usual guard work, like against beasts.

This was fine because there were many people around the array already, specifically earth users who’d make projectiles, so there was little chance of the enemies sending retaliatory forces and becoming the attacking side, which would require tens of thousands of Alterrans going through.

But now what? Even the ’skeletal’ forces were called in!

When they arrived, the Lord himself was outside, busy making projectiles! When the newcomers saw this, it became clear that this was an especially dangerous war, and the situation wasn’t too great for them!

They were scared. They didn’t want to become slaves!

And so, more and more people entered the array again, and this meant the majority of the fighter population on this side was outside the walls.

Then...things changed, the Lord went crazy, and killed and injured so many people before he fainted!

This inevitably caused panic. The leaders were either incapacitated or on the other side, so there was no one left on this side to reorganize things.

Now, Baku wasn’t the smartest orc in the shed, but this smelled like a ’chance’ to him!

He took out a few potions from his space and handed them to the other half-orcs. These were beast-attracting potions. While the ones the guards had on stock were the ’normal’ ones, Baku happened to have one bottle of the ’improved’ potion, something he exchanged for a bit of contribution points.

It was the power to make people face their own greed, to take chances regardless of the risks. And because they were thoughts that were already inside people’s heads, the skill was almost always very effective.

"He’s unconscious," she said. "I do wonder where he keeps the Lord Token."

The orcs and the dwarves arrived on Alterra’s side several minutes later, immediately running back to the forests before they got noticed by the enemies.

Freya had activated her skill before they activated the array, so they were given a few seconds to run. Fortunately, the Valov powerhouses were too busy fighting with the Alterran powerhouses to notice them.

Not to mention, over the past several hours, the arrays activated consistently to deliver projectiles and manpower, so people took their activation for granted and did not investigate.

However, since they had begun pushing, the area at the rear of the arrays had much fewer people, and Baku and the others had been hiding around in this area. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Baku was also very familiar with the terrain, and they knew hiding spots the busy enemies didn’t notice. Who’d think they had enemies sneaking around in the middle of hundreds of thousands of forces, right?

Because they activated the beast-attracting potions near their bodies, some of the scent remained. The orcs, with a dwarf on their backs, decided to go farther away from the territory to attract monsters.

Even if the enemy had cleared the vicinity before, it had been nearly 20 hours since then. More should have been attracted by the war by now.

The orcs lured more and more monsters into the area, causing chaos from behind.

By this time, nearly 20 hours since the war had started, the enemies’ beast-repelling potions should’ve run out already.

The enemies definitely assumed that they’d be causing chaos inside Alterra by now, with a good portion of their forces already within the walls, so beasts should not have been a problem anymore by this point.

Oh, how wrong they were.
