Of course, this was under the presumption that there was no accident. Such a growth was bound to step on countless other territories, garnering hate from all sides.
Princess Naia turned to Cauis. "Tell me more about the children..." she said. The reason she went all the way here was precisely for them.
When they got out of seclusion, they received a letter of inquiry from Zenno. He didn’t hide much this time, indicating that two children had exhibited the two elven powers.
Each race had its own abilities and specialties. Elves’ powers depended on lineage, on top of their talent for arrays.
These powers had also been lost for more than a thousand years.
Hence, what Zenno mentioned were likely just runes that somehow ended up here, but she decided to check it herself first.
It wasn’t the first time a false alarm happened. There had been surviving special runes that would appear here and there, used by people. Even Zenno must not have encountered them often, though, so even if it was runes, he might not know of them.
"They’re toddlers, only about two years old, Princess," he said. "They’re very adorable and lovable."
When he talked about them, Cauis’ expression softened. He had seen them a few times, especially when they were being walked around, and just the sight of them could easily make people melt into mush.
"I wonder if they were wearing runes and where they could’ve found it," she said. It was the more believable scenario, so that was what she was going with until proven otherwise.
"That..I’m not sure."
She entered the hospital with Cauis and one guard (a large entourage was not allowed inside) and met Zenno somewhere in there. As she walked in, she could not help but observe the hospital, how...comfortable it was.
Hospitals were usually dreary places and associated as such, but here, it felt vibrant. As if staying could help someone recover well.
Back in Holt, this had been one of her projects. The vision was not exactly the same, but the goal was to make things more comfortable for the patients.
A few years ago, she noticed that the discomfort, as well as psyche, seemed to delay recovery. Like two people with similar injuries and levels were in the hospital, but one family had a bigger ward with some luxuries like softer beds and interior plants.
Other than these, the two patients received the same treatment, but the latter recovered a bit faster than the other, so she got curious.
She should go around after the meeting for inspiration.
Soon, she arrived at the ward, opened to her by her guard and Cauis.
The first thing she saw was a little baby floating around, and then suddenly falling down, with a moving little bed catching his fall.
Then there was another baby flashing, from one side of the room to another, and another moving little bed went to catch her.
Naia’s pretty eyebrows rose.
Looks like she was wrong this time.
She had thought it was likely the work of runes, but now she saw that the burst of power was coming from the children themselves.
