At the entrance of the neighborhood, Ava rolled down her car window and greeted me.

"Congratulations! Mind if I come over to your place?"

During the competition, I had seen Ava, but only to finalize our divorce.

She had asked indifferently: "Are you really going through with this?"

I didn't answer and walked away, my resolve clear. Ava didn't push it, and the divorce was finalized.

Now, seeing Ava a bit tipsy, I replied flatly: "It's not a good time."

It was best to avoid being alone with her.

As I turned to leave, she got out of the car and followed me.

"If it's inconvenient at home, let's grab a bite out."

"I'm sorry, but I don't have time," I declined again.

I expected her to give up, but she persisted.

"Noah called out for Dad in his sleep last night."

I paused for a moment but quickly continued walking.

"That's not my concern."

She followed me up the stairs, as the elevator was broken and hadn't been repaired.

I was used to the stairs, but for Ava, who was accustomed to elevators, climbing three flights left her winded.

I found it amusing—this wasn't like Ava at all. She would never allow herself to appear flustered.

"I didn't realize your apartment was this high up," she said, catching her breath.

I didn't look at her, simply responding: "If you have something to say, just say it."

Ava caught her breath and said: "Noah misses you. Even though we're divorced, he's still your son. You may not have custody, but you do have visitation rights."

Just then, her phone buzzed with a video call from Noah.

"Mommy..." he whispered before falling silent.

"That's your problem," I replied coldly.

I hung up and ignored Ava's calls from outside. I even asked the neighbor to help get her to leave.

"Enough noise! Don't you know how to be quiet?"

When Ava finally left, I gave the neighbor a roast chicken as thanks. He smiled and handed me a large fish.

"Caught it today!"

"This fish is enormous!"

"Of course!" he said proudly.

He then asked about Ava.

"You seem like a decent guy!" he commented, misunderstanding.

I explained, holding the fish, "That's my ex-wife."

"She's with someone else now."
