All of my nerves were on fire. They came alive and attacked my body. "One hundred percent wolfsbane darling." Father. That was my only thought because now I realized how he felt in his final moments. A cut was made on both of my legs and both of my arms. "Goodbye Abigail." Eric left to join the fray upstairs.
I could smell the blood. Both upstairs and my own. Every so often a thud would happen signaling the death or knock out of someone. A cold settled into my veins as I watched the blood puddle grow larger and larger. Maybe if I just close my eyes it will all be over. I would like that. Mom and dad would be waiting for me.
I imagined it would be by a waterfall. Mom loved them. Dad would be happy now he was with her. Flowers surrounding them as us three watched over James. It would be perfect. For a moment I saw dad come down the steps and I smiled as I closed my eyes.
I was finally done here. A pair of strong arms picked me up off the floor. How fitting it was that my father would be the one to welcome me into death's embrace. We both died in the same place. We died protecting my mate. What a shame that I only got a few days with him. A brisk breeze rushed across my skin as my father walked. Soon I would wake up and see my parents.
"I've got her." My father spoke. In a way though it wasn't him. The voice was too high to be my father. Maybe in the afterlife it was him before mom had died.
The strangest thing happened though.
I heard a rustling of leaves as someone ran to us. Sweet honey and spice with a touch of rose and coffee filled my senses as I was passed to another pair of arms. These ones were stronger and yet softer then the last ones. "Let's get out of here James." James? My brother found me? Wind rushed by me as whoever was carrying me ran.
It sounded like a car door opened and the man holding me got in. The car started rumbling then moving. The heartbeat sounded so familiar. My face hurt from the beating but I managed to open my eyes just enough. Chocolate brown eyes greeted me. "Don't worry Abbie. You're safe now."
The first thing he did was help me out of my top and pants. Really I didn't care that I was exposed like this to him. At some point he would see more than this. For a moment he moved and went to get something. Two parts of my brain conflicted.
Option one: Theo was getting something to hurt me with. Only that doesn't make sense. Why would he do that if he was my mate and saved me? Option two: he was getting something to help me. It turns out option two was sort of right. When he came back he held a hair tie in his hands. Once he piled my hair up he used it to secure it.
He first attended to the wounds on my arms and legs. It didn't take long for him to clean those up and bandage them. When he got to my back I almost heard the sigh. "What did they do to you Abbie?" I just turned my head a bit to him and shook my head. He seemed to understand because he didn't push it further.
He poured some rubbing alcohol down my back. It stung a bit but not as much as the wolfsbane running in my system. "That's all I can do here Abbie. I'm going to lift you up now." He did just that and set me down on the bed. After he went to his closet and grabbed a hoddie. Once he handed it to me I slipped it on. The warmth enclosed me and the lingering cologne on the hoddie made me feel safe.
