And with a child, no less.

“It’s still being processed.”

Oliver didn’t understand. “Then why is Mom ignoring me? I thought you were already divorced and she wasn’t my mom anymore.”

Adrian said, “Even if we divorce, she will always be your mother. If there’s something you want, you should tell her yourself.”

Oliver huffed petulantly. “She’s ignoring me, so I’m going to ignore her.”

With that, he took Selena’s hand. “Auntie Selena, as soon as my dad and mom get divorced, you should marry my dad right away and be my mom.”

Selena gently wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Summer had arrived, and young children with their higher body temperatures were always prone to sweating.

She smiled warmly. “If you want me to be your mom, you can call me Mom, Oliver. But your father and I won’t be getting married. Let’s not bring this up again, okay? As their child, you should be trying to help them fix their relationship.”

“They don’t have any relationship,” Oliver said, confused. “Why can’t you and Dad get married, Auntie Selena?”

Selena replied, “I’ve already told you, haven’t I? Your father and I are like brother and sister, and siblings can’t get married.”

She patted his head. “It’s been a while since you’ve seen your mother, hasn’t it? Remember to go say hello to her in a little bit.”

Oliver refused. “No way. I’ll only talk to her if she comes to talk to me first.”

He mumbled, “She was the one who got mad first, ran away from home, and insisted on divorcing Dad. I don’t even know what we did to make her angry. She wouldn’t even accept our apology... Anyway, I’m not talking to her.”

“Alright, alright,” Selena said, humoring him. “Today is for playing games, so let’s just be happy.”

The private preschool was well-funded.

It boasted a large field and a grandstand that could seat over a thousand people.

The bleachers were marked with class and student names.

Isabel found Leo’s designated spot and sat down.

As luck would have it, Oliver’s spot was right next to them.

“Didn’t you teach me that it’s rude to do that?”

“You shouldn’t teach kids things you can’t even do yourself.”

Isabel didn't even acknowledge Oliver. Seeing there was still some time, she turned to Julian. “Keep a close eye on him. It’s crowded today, so don’t let him get hurt. I’m going to the restroom.”

Julian leaned back against the bleachers and gave a lazy wave.

Isabel left the grandstand and went to a restroom tucked away in a corner downstairs.

It was a small, auxiliary facility with two single stalls, one for men and one for women.

Luckily, no one was there when she arrived, so she pushed the door open and went in.

Just as she was about to turn and close the door, a force shoved her inside.

The door slammed shut with a bang.
