Therefore, she must be waiting for him to coax her.

But that was impossible.

“You shouldn’t have come today. After Grandma’s birthday banquet, the news of our marriage has already spread.”

Isabel waited for him to finish his thought.

But he said nothing more.

She filled in the blank herself.

He was probably worried about hurting Selena.

“We’re getting divorced anyway, so it’s good that everyone knows.”

“Mr. Blackwell, you need to act faster. If you keep dragging your feet, you can’t blame me when Selena gets criticized. It will be your fault.”

The sounds from outside indicated the event was about to start.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the restroom door.

“Isabel, are you okay? What’s taking so long?”

“I’m fine,” Isabel called out. “Are you alone?”

“No.” Leo glanced at the roguish man leaning against the wall beside him. “We’re waiting for you by the door.”

“Okay.” Isabel suddenly felt drained; her anger dissipated. She looked at Adrian calmly. “Mr. Blackwell, are you delaying this divorce because you think I’m playing games, or is it because you don’t actually want to divorce me?”

She smirked, her tone suggestive. “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with me?”

Adrian scoffed. “In your dreams.”

Isabel laughed as if she didn’t believe him. “Your actions—cornering me in the women’s restroom—make that hard to believe.”

Adrian turned, opened the door, and left.

When Leo saw Adrian, his eyes widened.

He already knew the difference between the men’s and women’s restrooms.

Then he saw Isabel close the door behind him.

His little mind couldn’t make sense of it. He asked Julian, “Mister, does Oliver’s dad not know how to read the signs on the doors?”

Julian’s lips twisted into a smile. “That’s right. Blind in the eyes and blind in the heart.”

Leo didn’t quite understand, but before he could ask, Isabel came out.

The games were about to begin, so he pushed the confusing thought to the back of his mind.

“Isabel, let’s go to the arrow toss!”

“It’s a good thing my parents didn’t come today. Last year they played this and didn’t get a single one in!”

“This means I can get the first-prize Paw Patrol schoolbag!”

Isabel looked at Leo, his cheeks flushed with excitement and his eyes full of admiration.

She suddenly felt a surge of pride.

It was a different kind of pride from what she’d felt when she developed Y-1.

She had once tried to find this feeling of pride from Oliver.

She had hoped Oliver would be proud to have her as a mother.

Unfortunately,

things didn’t turn out that way.

“We got the schoolbag! Let’s go to the next game!”

“Okay, okay!”

Just as they were about to leave, the crowd suddenly parted.

Someone called out, “Mr. Blackwell.”
