Isabel couldn't have cared less what they thought.

Each lab was independent, after all.

Isabel didn't stay in the lab for long.

She left after chatting with Amanda.

She arrived at the Blackwell family estate.

And ran into Mrs. Blackwell right at the door.

But Mrs. Blackwell was acting strangely. She just glanced at Isabel, without the usual passive-aggressive remarks.

Still, Isabel felt she should say something to prevent any future drama.

"Adrian and I are divorced."

She showed Mrs. Blackwell the divorce papers. "I'm only coming to the estate for Grandma's health. I hope you can just ignore my presence. I have no desire to interact with you either."

Mrs. Blackwell stared at the divorce papers in disbelief.

But that disbelief quickly gave way to a wave of immense joy.

After her conversation with Old Mrs. Blackwell that night, she had been miserable for days, learning that it was Adrian who didn't want the divorce. She couldn't believe it. Then, hearing that Adrian had taken Isabel abroad had made her even more anxious.

Isabel took back the divorce papers and headed toward Old Mrs. Blackwell's courtyard.

As she turned, she saw Oliver standing there.

She ignored him.

But Oliver looked at the papers in her hand and asked, "Mom, did you really divorce Dad?"

"Yes."

Oliver immediately lit up and called Selena. "Auntie Selena—no, I can call you Mom now! Isabel and Dad got divorced!"

Isabel acted as if she hadn't heard a word he said, walking away with a blank expression.

In Old Mrs. Blackwell's courtyard, she first asked about her recent condition.

One day, as Isabel was leaving Lab 1, Selena blocked her path. "How could this happen? Weren't you two fine when you were abroad? Was it something I did?"

Isabel shoved her aside. "Adrian isn't here. Who are you putting on a show for? Selena, have you been playing this part for so long that you've started to believe your own lies?"

Selena's expression didn't falter. "Isabel, you know I've always been trying to keep you and Adrian from getting a divorce."

Isabel scoffed. "The only reason you didn't want us to divorce is because you enjoy the thrill of the chase. But I don't have time to play your games. Stay out of my sight from now on. Otherwise, when my hand meets your face, don't say I didn't give you a chance to dodge."

She walked away without another word.

Selena stood rooted to the spot, a thoughtful look on her face.
