Adrian said nothing, simply picking Oliver up and heading to the hotel.

Selena remained quiet during the walk; some things were best said in moderation.

Once they reached the hotel, she finally spoke. "Adrian, let Oliver stay with me. What he needs most right now is a mother's love."

Oliver had already fallen asleep on Adrian's shoulder.

Teardrops still clung to the corners of his eyes, and he mumbled in his sleep, "Mom."

Adrian refused. "No, his temper is bad right now. He might hurt you."

Before Selena could respond, he added, "It's been a long trip. Get some rest."

Then he carried the child into his room.

Watching the door close in her face, Selena bit the inside of her cheek, her expression darkening.

Back at the seaside villa, Isabel was making Sweet and Sour Meatballs for Edmund.

He and Evelyn were gathered around her, helping out.

Julian took a call, confirming flight details for the next day.

As he was about to put his phone down, a message came in from Miles: [Buddy, I'm working my tail off preparing for your wedding with my sister, I have zero free time. You better protect her.]

Julian glanced at the photos of the wedding venue and the wedding dress that had just been flown in.

He didn't have to imagine it; she would look stunning in it.

After looking at the pictures, he slowly replied: [We're not related by blood, stop calling her your sister.]

Miles: [We're family on paper now, so she's my sister. From now on, you'd better respect me, brother-in-law.]

Julian couldn't be bothered to reply, sending back a rolling-eyes emoji.

He ignored whatever messages came after that.

Putting his phone away, he glanced toward the kitchen.

Just as he was about to head over, one of his men came to report.

"Mr. Reed, our shipment at sea..."

Julian listened and then smiled.

Everyone knew that the waters around Aurelia City were Reed territory.

"He can't, but the Grey Zone has a grudge against me."

"Then telling me is useless. I don't know anyone from the Grey Zone."

Julian bent down, getting closer, and smiled. "Either way, you're the one who caused this. As punishment, you can cook me two more dishes."

Isabel held up her right hand. "Julian, have you forgotten about my hand?"

Julian put his hands on her shoulders and turned her around. "Stir-frying some greens won't be too much of a strain on you. Oh, and fry up a plate of peanuts while you're at it."

"..."

But in the end, Edmund stir-fried the greens, and Evelyn handled the peanuts.

When Isabel went back into the kitchen, she found the two of them had overheard everything and taken over so she wouldn't have to do it.

Julian didn't care who cooked his food.

He hadn't bothered to lower his voice, knowing the two eavesdroppers would hear and that they were capable of making those dishes.

"Care for a drink?" Julian opened a bottle of wine and asked Isabel.

Isabel declined. "You and Evelyn can have some."
