Although she didn't want Selena involved either, she told Dylan to open the email anyway, lest Adrian go on a warpath for his precious damsel.

They needed to know what cards the other side was holding before they could make their next move.

Reluctantly, Dylan opened the email. His pupils constricted as his eyes fell upon the technical jargon within.

Isabel saw it too.

“Y-2?”

Dylan tossed the phone onto the conference table and jutted his chin at her. “Explain. Why does Selena have the formula for Y-2 that you wrote?”

“...”

Isabel was just as surprised.

She thought back.

She seemed to recall writing down that partial formula right around the time she decided to give up her research to get married.

She just hadn't been able to take it any further.

Dylan had a natural talent for pharmaceutical research.

She had figured that even without her, he could continue the work based on Y-1.

So she hadn't given the partial formula a second thought, leaving it on her old computer.

Later, as Oliver grew up, he would use that old laptop to play games.

He’d even taken it with him a few times when Adrian took him abroad.

It must have been leaked to Selena then.

“You don’t need to be on high alert,” Isabel said, pointing at the phone. “It’s only a partial formula, and I wrote it before I could even test it. It’s not that valuable.”

“But she can use that partial formula to get into our lab.”

Dylan’s face darkened. “There’s something else I didn’t tell you.”

Isabel asked, “What?”

Dylan: “After we ran into Adrian at the hospital, I received a notice. Someone filed a complaint to have my name removed from the lab’s roster.”

Isabel replied calmly, “In that case, Dylan, do you have any better ideas?”

Dylan was speechless.

Isabel was back in the lab, yes.

But because of her prior dismissal, she was effectively blacklisted.

Even her success with Y-1 couldn't erase her past mistakes.

Her current official status was merely his assistant.

Furthermore, her non-disclosure agreement hadn't expired, and they still needed to smooth things over with the old leadership.

First, they couldn't reveal that Y-2 was her work.

Second, even if they could, with Adrian protecting Selena, the matter would be incredibly difficult to clear up.

Right now, letting Selena into the lab seemed to be their only option.
