"Weren't you waiting to be rescued?"

Adrian fastened the lock and stood up straight. "You can wait just like this."

"..."

Isabel never imagined he would actually do something like this. "You lunatic."

Adrian gave a faint smile and turned to leave.

"Stop," Isabel called out, burning with shame and anger. "Get me some clothes!"

Adrian turned back, pulled the blanket over her, and said, "You won't be needing them."

With that, he walked out without a backward glance.

Thud.

The heavy door closed.

Isabel was furious, but this was no time for anger. She wrapped the blanket around herself and searched the room.

She was looking for something sharp, even a cufflink.

Since he lived here, surely there would be cufflinks or something similar.

If she could just find a pointed piece of metal, she could pick the lock on this chain.

But her search was fruitless.

While trying to save herself, she also had to wait for rescue.

When Adrian went downstairs, Alen greeted him. "Heard my sister-in-law is here? Aren't you going to introduce me?"

Adrian replied coolly, "Later."

Alen followed him to the kitchen and watched him pour a glass of whiskey. He grabbed a glass for himself as well.

Adrian poured him a drink.

The two glasses clinked together.

Alen noticed the scratch marks on the back of Adrian's hand, and when he turned his head, he saw more on his neck.

It was clear from his refreshed and satisfied demeanor that he'd had his fill.

"You used to say you had no feelings for her, and then you were talking about divorce. Now look at you, tumbling into bed with her."

"If you wanted someone, you could have just had people find you a woman."

Alen chuckled. "I'm not like you. When I need to blow off steam, I only look for my ex-wife."

Adrian gave a slight, condescending smile. "Right. Your former stepmother."

"..."

Her entire body was bound with ropes, leaving her able to do little more than wriggle like a worm.

"Who is it?"

The eastern horizon seemed to be lightening.

A burly man came over and lifted her up. She glanced around; they seemed to be heading toward Aurelia City.

Then, a tall man in a distinctive floral shirt walked out.

He took off his sunglasses, and Selena's pupils contracted violently. "Julian?"

"Surprised?" Julian walked over and pulled up a chair.

He lifted a hand, and the burly man let go. Selena hit the deck with a thud, seeing stars.

Every inch of her body screamed in pain.

She didn't believe for a second that Julian was here to save her.

"What do you want?"

"What else?" Julian sipped his drink. "To trade you for my wife."

Isabel had been captured by Adrian.

This was something Selena hadn't anticipated. She had assumed that after she escaped, Adrian would use all his resources to find her.

Given his close relationship with the head of Grey Zone, he would have found her eventually, even if she was being smuggled out. It was only a matter of time.
