Martha wouldn't dare eat at the same table as Adrian, so she quickly brought her plate to the living room.

"You should eat something. You'll have no energy if you starve yourself."

Isabel had thought that after everything that had happened with Adrian, she wouldn't lose her temper anymore.

Isabel's eyes widened in an instant as she looked at Martha. "What did I just say?"

"You said your right hand was ruined because of me." Adrian walked over, his gaze deep and dark as he stared at her. "Isabel, are you going to keep pretending to be Isabel Ashford?"

She'd been careless.

In truth, seeing Martha had already started to expose her.

It was a stark reminder that one must learn to stay calm.

Losing your cool never did any good.

Isabel had no choice but to bluff. "I just feel it's unfair to her."

"I heard about what happened from my husband, Julian, and I just got angry for a moment."

Adrian made no comment. Seeing that she was eating, he turned and went back to the dining table.

Just as he was about to sit, Shadow hurried in.

"Mr. Blackwell, Julian is at the gate of the Grey Zone."

"He has Selena with him."

Adrian's expression remained unchanged. "No rush. Wait until I've finished my meal."

Shadow withdrew.

Isabel's gaze met his for a few seconds.

Though she hadn't heard what was said, she had a strong feeling that Julian and Edmund had arrived.

It was a relief to know Julian was safe, even if he couldn't get her out.

She truly owed him so much.

Outside the Grey Zone gate.

Julian had anticipated this and came fully equipped.

He pitched a tent right at the entrance. They had been in such a rush to get here that they hadn't eaten.

He set up a pot and started cooking.

But seeing as she was the key to getting Isabel back, she added more noodles to the pot.

Just as they finished eating, the gates of the Grey Zone opened.

Julian didn't move from his deck chair. He knew it was Adrian.

Evelyn shielded Edmund, hiding behind Julian.

Adrian glanced at Selena, who was tied to the post.

His gaze then fell on Julian's face.

The two men said nothing, a silent confrontation hanging in the air.

Just then, Edmund threw something out.

Even though Adrian's men covered their mouths and noses, they collapsed to the ground, their bodies going limp.

Adrian remained standing, tall and unaffected.

Edmund was puzzled. Was this man even human?

Only then did Julian slowly rise from his chair. He looked at Adrian with a smile. "Mr. Blackwell, you're quite skilled at holding your breath. I bet you could swim across the Aurean Expanse, couldn't you?"

Adrian put on a gas mask, his voice muffled but unable to hide its chill. "Just a petty trick."

Julian chuckled, glancing behind him. "Mr. Blackwell, I've found your precious darling for you. Isn't it time you let my wife come home?"
