"You don't have that kind of charm, miss. If Adrian hadn't given the order, why would I have ever let you go?"
Selena's face turned ashen.
Shadow took her to a secret room for confinement.
Seeing Adrian enter shortly after, Alen patted his shoulder and asked, "Is there really no one else who can save our buddy? This Selena seems incredibly stupid, and her methods are so crude."
Adrian washed his face. "Finding someone who's a match in every aspect isn't that easy."
Alen shrugged. "What a shame."
He then got nosy. "Your wife's been taken away. How are you feeling about that?"
"What is there to feel?" Adrian said. "She'll come back to me sooner or later. We're legally married."
Alen noticed someone coming out of the kitchen. "What about this one?"
Adrian looked over.
Martha trembled with fear.
Isabel had wanted to take Martha with her.
But the trade was only Selena for Isabel, one for one.
Isabel had initially told Martha to leave first, and she would stay behind and find another way.
Martha had refused. "Isabel, you go. You can't do anything here. But if you get out, you'll have a chance to save me. I know what the young master wants; it's just to appease the other young master. I'm just a servant. I can handle cooking for him. But you, you would never be willing to cook. Who knows how the master would torment you then. You have to go."
Isabel had to admit she was right.
After all, Martha was from old Mrs. Blackwell's side. Adrian wouldn't do anything drastic to an old woman. He would just use her as a threat.
If Adrian thought he had succeeded, he would always have her under his thumb.
"Don't you start crying on me, sis." Julian quickly grabbed a tissue for her. "If my old man or the Ashford family found out, I'd get a beating for sure."
Isabel didn't take the tissue, forcing her tears back. "You've worked so hard during this time."
Julian waved his hand. "It's nothing. Just make me more money in the future. And when that X-1 is ready, I get to try it first so I can live a few more years."
"No problem. That's a small matter," Isabel said, then asked, "How did you find Selena?"
Julian sneered. "How do you think Selena managed to escape? Someone let her go. If you were Selena, trying to hide from Adrian, how would you run?"
"An international fishing boat," Isabel said. "No need for any identification. Once you reach Celvaria, Adrian can't touch you for the time being."
"Exactly. I dragged her right off a boat in international waters." Julian snapped his fingers. "Adrian can't go there. That's my territory."
Isabel's face darkened. "So, he let Selena go on purpose, just to find an excuse to bring me to the Grey Zone?"
