"Yes," Isabel said, opening the door. "Someone's about to starve to death."

She gave Amanda and Evelyn a pointed look, as if they were assuming something was going on between her and Julian.

What could they possibly be doing in a hospital room?

Evelyn put an arm around her shoulder and whispered something in her ear with a suggestive smile.

Isabel shot her an exasperated glare and walked over to the containers Amanda had opened. She picked out some of the lighter dishes and brought them over to feed Julian.

Evelyn took a picture. "The last wedding didn't work out. When we have the next one, we can put all these sweet moments on the big screen."

But Isabel said, "There won't be another wedding ceremony."

Old Mr. Reed had already given her all the technology, holding nothing back.

He also knew that her arrangement with Julian was just a partnership. There was no need for a wedding.

Evelyn froze, her gaze instinctively shifting to Julian.

Julian still had that same nonchalant look on his face. "I thought it was a hassle too. If it wasn't to help Isabel trick the old man, I wouldn't have bothered."

Just as Evelyn was about to say something, she heard Isabel add, "But we'll still get a marriage license. That won't change."

Oh, well, that was fine then. For a moment, she thought Isabel wasn't going to get married at all.

But the roads were still covered. Isabel searched online, but all the nearby hotels were full.

It was likely due to stranded travelers. With the new year approaching, there might also be people returning to Westbridge who couldn't get home because of the snow.

She gave Evelyn the key to her mother's house. "It's a bit of a drive. Be careful when you take Edmund over."
