So, he definitely had to try it.
He had to see what was so different.
Oliver was even more eager than him, already seated at the dining table.
Martha waited by the door, ready for Isabel’s call.
But in the end, it was Adrian who brought the breakfast out and placed it on the table.
She went to help him.
Isabel came out and said, “I saved some for you. Go and eat.”
Martha nodded and went into the kitchen.
Isabel sat down far from both father and son and took a sip of porridge.
A warmth instantly spread through her stomach. Only then did she start on the boiled egg and other items.
“Ow, hot!” Oliver, in his haste, burned his tongue. He hissed a few times, then smiled sweetly at Isabel. “Mom’s cooking is the best!”
Isabel’s lips curled into a cold smirk, but she didn’t respond.
Adrian glanced at her, then picked up his spoon and brought a mouthful of porridge to his lips.
It was strange.
It really did taste different from Martha’s.
But it was the same porridge, made with the same ingredients.
“It’s true. Your cooking is the best.”
Isabel hadn’t expected him to say that. She shot back, “I poisoned your bowl. Of course it tastes good.”
Adrian was speechless.
He seemed not to believe her, scooping a spoonful from Oliver’s bowl. It tasted the same.
He looked at her, almost resigned, a faint smile flashing in his dark eyes. “You could poison me to my face, and I’d still eat it.”
“I did. I just told you,” Isabel said calmly. “I’m waiting for the poison to take effect.”
Adrian didn't take her seriously.
After breakfast, he offered to drive Isabel, but she wasn't going out today.
It was the weekend, so Oliver was staying home too.
But Adrian had some business to attend to at the Blackwell Group, and he also had to deal with Alen.
In less than an hour, his phone had been blown up with calls.
