He didn't dare say anything. Luckily, he'd brought a change of clothes.

He went in without a word and came out dressed in black.

He waited until the old man went to the kitchen before sidling up to Isabel.

"So, Isabel, you've decided to go off-grid with my grandpa?"

Isabel shook her head, gathering some firewood for the kitchen.

Because of the rain, she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt. When she rolled up her sleeves in the kitchen, Julian finally saw the injury on her right hand.

"What the hell? We haven't seen each other in a few years, and you've let yourself get this messed up?"

"No wonder you ran off to this place. Your right hand's useless."

Old Mr. Reed threw the tomato in his hand right at Julian's face. "If you can't say anything nice, shut your mouth."

Julian didn't mind. He took a bite of the tomato and said to his grandfather, "Hey, we can't just ignore the problem. If you can't fix it, I can find a doctor overseas for her."

"No need, Julian," Isabel said with a smile. She envied their banter; she had no family to interact with like that. "It's almost healed. Old Mr. Reed is very skilled."

On that point, Julian couldn't argue.

But unfortunately, neither he nor his father could inherit their grandfather's skills.

They were both too restless for it.

No wonder his grandfather was so fond of Isabel.

"You're still here?" old Mr. Reed shooed him away. "There's no food for you here."

Julian knew his grandfather better than that. Since he was already here, there was no way he was leaving without mooching a meal.

He finished the tomato and pulled Isabel away. "Go rest. With skin as delicate as yours, you don't want another scar."

Isabel knew her right hand would be scarred anyway, so she wasn't too concerned.

But since Julian was here, she decided not to disturb the grandfather and grandson's conversation.

She left the kitchen, returned to the cabin, and found her phone. Amanda had sent her a message, so she replied.

A news notification popped up, and she accidentally tapped on it.

--Y-2 on the verge of success? The beautiful Ph.D. returning from abroad, Selena, is set to create another legend!

It was an interview with Selena.

It was common knowledge that Y-1 had been published under Dylan's name, and for the past six years, there had been no news about the Y-series.

Julian knew Isabel had gotten married. After all, her removal from the project had caused quite a stir.

The higher-ups were very displeased.

Although she was brilliant, a real talent for creating Y-1, she couldn't challenge authority, could she?

Back then, everyone had advised her that getting married didn't mean she had to give up her research.

But she insisted on becoming a housewife.

Ah, men. They say they want someone to take care of the home. But over time, they get bored. Their eyes start to wander to the radiant women outside.

Even a top-tier man like Adrian was always chasing after a smart, exceptional woman like Selena.

I heard she's even finished her Ph.D.

Isabel is beautiful, but if she's just a trophy wife at home, no matter how devoted she is to her husband and child, she'll eventually be overlooked.

"Did her husband cheat on her? Is that why she's demanding a divorce in a fit of anger?"

Old Mr. Reed looked at him. "Her husband is Adrian."

Julian: "?"
