He was surely the one who wanted the divorce most, so she had been waiting quietly.

But she'd been in treatment for over half a month, and there was still no movement from him.

Almost three months had passed since they signed the divorce papers. Even the legal cooling-off period was over.

She couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Blackwell, the divorce..."

"Isabel," Selena interrupted, her tone laced with disapproval. "Using the same trick twice is just boring. I've been trying to persuade Adrian on your behalf, and I've been tirelessly advising you. It's normal for couples to argue. Why must you make things so unpleasant for everyone? Dylan was one thing, and Adrian gave you a chance. Now you're getting all chummy with another man."

The truth was, she couldn't stand seeing Julian dote on Isabel.

In her eyes, Isabel didn't deserve the love of these men. These exceptional men should all be her admirers.

Then, her tone turned saccharine. "Julian, you probably don't know, but Isabel and Adrian are married. They just insisted on keeping it a secret, so they didn't invite you to the wedding. Now that you know, you can't make such misleading gestures anymore. Many people don't know that Isabel's grandmother and your grandfather were close. They'll just think Isabel has loose morals. Society is already so malicious toward women."

"Are you done?" Julian said with a smirk. "With a mouth like yours, why are you a lab researcher? You should be a diplomat. With that talent for twisting the truth, you could probably rewrite history and make them weep with remorse for what they did to our country."

Selena wasn't very close to Julian, but their relationship was definitely better than his with Isabel.

After all, Isabel only knew Julian through her grandmother's connection to old Mr. Reed.

But Selena had known Julian since their days in the old neighborhood, and they often ran into each other abroad.

She was used to his way of speaking.

Isabel had been tolerating them for a long time.

When Julian insulted Selena, he didn't say a word. But the moment she spoke, he jumped to Selena's defense.

He knew Julian didn't operate in Westbridge, so his Blackwell family influence couldn't touch him. So, he bullied her instead, the one with no background.

The more she thought about it, the more her anger flared.

"I wasn't aware I'd done anything sordid," Isabel retorted, her words sharp and merciless. "Back at old Mr. Reed's place, it was your precious darling here who, without asking a single question, jumped to the conclusion that I was having an affair with an old man. Now, I just get out of Julian's car, and again, without asking why, you're spreading rumors that I'm fooling around with another man."

"With such a talent for spreading salacious gossip, why are you even in a lab? You should be running a clickbait farm!"
