Aiden’s gaze became sharp as he turned and glared at Jason.
Under such threatening intensity of his gaze, for a moment, Jason was taken aback. He got doubtful of his own words as though thinking if he said something that wasn’t really right.
"What’s wrong? Why are you now giving me that look like I said something that I did not exactly match what you believe?"
"You think pregnancy is that easy?" Aiden turned to him and asked as though he was challenging him to speak if he could.
Jason opened his mouth to respond to him, but then forced them shut, not very sure of his words. And his confusion at that moment felt nothing but embarrassment. After all, he was a doctor —one of the top ones in the field, yet now he couldn’t even be confident about the basics.
"Aiden, pregnancy is definitely not easy. A woman has to go through a lot. I am just saying —"
"Dr. Clark," Arwen interrupted him. Her voice was soft yet firm. When Jason turned to her, she gave him a small smile. "I would like to talk to him for a moment. Can you tell me where I can find some private space here?"
Jason’s brows quirked a little at first, but when he read her expression, he immediately nodded, gesturing towards the door to say, "You can empty rooms in this corridor itself."
Arwen gave him a nod. Then, looking back at Aiden, she simply grabbed his hand and took him with her. She didn’t offer him any time to refuse or resist.
Jacob stepped a step aside, giving them the way before watching them exit the room. Turning to Jason, he then asked, "Do you want me to explain any legal terms or abbreviations from that court notice?"
"You —" Jason pointed his finger out, truly aggravated. "Did I kill your cat?"
Jacob casually smirked. His expression revealed nothing, but there was something in his gaze that seemed like vengeance. "That’s something you should realize. What’s fun in me telling you?"
Jason narrowed his gaze at him. Walking closer to him, he stood right in front of his friend as he studied his face. "I don’t know mind reading, brother, but I do know you. Given your attitude and the way you are looking at me now, I feel like I offended you in a way that you cannot take, and now you want to hunt me down."
Jacob stared back at him, matching his eyes. "Then be prepared to get hunted, because I have all the ways to hunt you. Either this way ..." he paused only to smirk, before adding, "or other."
"You —" Jason felt a sudden sense of speechlessness. He pointed his finger at him; however, Jacob gave him a nonchalant look before turning and exiting the room as well.
"O Lord! Why did I end up having two pain-in-as*es kind of friends? What did I do to deserve them?" Jason muttered slowly, pinching the space between his brows.

Meanwhile, Arwen found an empty ward and pulled Aiden inside with her before locking it.
Turning around, she finally stared at Aiden. "Can you calm down a little now so that we can actually talk?" she said, and her words visibly made his brows furrow.
"I am already calm," he said, and Arwen shook her head, refusing to believe.
"No, you are not," she said, taking a step closer to him. "You don’t look like this when you are calm, husband. And when I say it, I want you to believe me cause if anything I have become confident about, it’s about reading your moods. And right now, you are definitely not in your best mood."
"Moon —"
Before he could speak or reason with her, Arwen cut in.
"Do you want me to show you what you look like when you’re calm?" she asked, already stopping in front of him.
Aiden looked at her, and she smiled.
"Let me show you."
"Shh!" She pressed her fingers against his lips just to stop him from saying more. "Whatever happened wasn’t in your control, Aiden. If it had been, you would have allowed it. It wasn’t your fault. So, stop blaming yourself. You haven’t lost me, and —"
"I would have if I hadn’t reached there in time," he said, pressing on the possibility that existed so strongly. "I would have lost you again if they had injected that drug into you. You would have forgotten me, and I would have lost you, Moon. I would have."
"No, you wouldn’t have," Arwen said more firmly this time. Her tone carried an unwavering confidence that made Aiden stare up at her.
She shook her head at him and repeated. "You wouldn’t have lost me. Not this time. Not even if they had succeeded in giving the same drug twice. Not even if I would have again forgotten everything and failed to even recognize myself. You wouldn’t have lost me, Ide."
Aiden looked at her, and she nodded again. This time with a soft smile —one that was reassuring.
"I forgot you once, Ide, and I couldn’t forgive myself for that. I wouldn’t have dared to make you suffer the same thing over again. So, trust me, even if they had succeeded, they wouldn’t have succeeded in erasing your existence from your life. Because as long as I would have survived, I would have found you back."
She said before rolling the sleeves of her left arm. She didn’t go all the way up, but rather kept it until the mid of her elbow.
Aiden watched her, not understanding what she was up to until he saw her removing her watch from her wrist.
"Moon, what —"
She turned her hand just in time to make the rest of his words stick in his throat. His brows furrowed, tugging deeper at the sight that greeted him on the underside of her wrist.
"What’s this, Moon?" he asked, taking her hand in his to inspect it closely.
His name —engraved with ink in her skin deep enough not to get erased for life.
"When did you get this?" he asked, glancing back at her. His gaze carried an emotion that was hard to express.
