“Hello?”
“Is this Natalie?” a man’s arrogant voice asked from the other end.
Natalie frowned. “This is she.”
“Perfect. Colin made a bet with us and lost, but he can’t cough up the million dollars he owes. He wants you to come bail him out. Bring a million dollars to rescue Colin. If you don’t, I’ll break his arms and his legs and make him a cripple for life.”
Natalie’s brow furrowed. It was Colin Scott.
Colin was no better than the rest of them. She wasn't going to save him.
Natalie refused flatly. “I have no connection to the Scott family anymore. Whether you beat him or kill him is your decision.”
“Natalie, it’s Colin! You can’t just leave me to die! How can you be so heartless? We’re real siblings, related by blood. You can’t just abandon me.”
Colin’s furious voice came through the phone.
Natalie frowned. This hadn't happened in her previous life.
In her past life, after Jared's accident, Colin hadn't returned until her birthday party, and he ended up in prison.
After he found out Joanna had taken everything, he tried to run her over, failed, and was sent to prison by Joanna. His end was tragic.
This time, she decided not to interfere. Respecting the destinies of others was the polite thing to do.
But why was this happening months earlier?
Had she changed the course of events from her past life?
Natalie scoffed. “Colin, when you need me, I’m your family. When you don’t, I’m some stray you picked up off the street. Why don’t you go find your real sister, Joanna?”
Natalie sneered. “Not interested. Who would want the bad luck of being your sister? I was never your sister. I’m the one who’s come to collect your debt.”
“Natalie, why are you getting so angry? I called you a country bumpkin, so what? It’s your good fortune that I’m letting you rescue me.”
Colin was as arrogant and self-righteous as ever.
“You can keep that good fortune for yourself. Goodbye. Colin, I don't care if you end up with broken arms and legs.”
As Natalie was about to hang up, she heard Colin shout, “Mr. Woodard, you have to get Natalie to come tonight! My sister is gorgeous.”
The name “Mr. Woodard” made Natalie pause. A thought struck her.
She asked, “Where is the address?”
