Joanna asked in shock, “Why did Mom disown you?”
“It’s because I only know how to spend money, not make it. I’m useless. Mom’s company is in trouble, and she doesn’t have any extra cash for me anymore. I asked her for money this morning, but she had none to give. I said some horrible things. I told her she was just putting on an act and that she had to give you a million-dollar monthly allowance so you wouldn't get bullied on set.”
“Joanna, I fought with Mom for you, and she disowned me. I think she probably doesn't want us to be burdened with her massive debt.”
“The company’s situation is getting worse and worse.”
Joanna frowned. Wendy's company was teetering on the brink of collapse.
Now was the perfect time to make a move.
“I’ve invested all the money. When I get a return, I’ll give it back to you, okay? I know you’re the best to me.”
“Of course, I’m the best to you, Joanna. But I’m broke now. What are we going to do?”
So, she had no intention of returning the money?
“Since things are so bad at home, why don’t you get a job? Racing cars and motorcycles costs millions a month. You really can’t afford it without money.”
Colin froze, suddenly remembering it was Joanna who had suggested he and his older brother get into racing.
Their mother had disagreed at the time, saying racing was dangerous and they could lose their lives.
But what had Joanna said? “Mom, you just don’t get it. Guys who race are the coolest. With both my brothers racing, the men of the Scott family will be legendary.”
Hearing this, tears streamed down Colin’s face. He had believed her lies before and turned on Natalie, cursing her out without a second thought.
He was such an idiot. If he really died, it would be from his own stupidity.
His face darkened, his eyes glinting with a cold light. “Don’t worry, Joanna, I’ll take care of her for you. How can some country hick compare to a princess like you?”
“Colin, even though Natalie is vicious, you can’t be too cruel to her. Jared was too cruel last time, and Natalie retaliated. Speaking of which, I haven’t heard from Jared at all. I’m starting to think something might have happened to him. And if you think about his enemies, Natalie is the only one.”
“Colin, I’m really worried about Jared. It’s been days since I’ve been able to contact him.”
Colin remembered what his mother had said and asked, “Joanna, I heard a little about what happened at the wedding. He probably went after his wife. I’ll go ask Natalie about it in a bit.”
