But why were they getting a divorce?

That man had been sitting in the car; he hadn't gotten a clear look at his face that night.

Ian lowered his head and ate.

He listened quietly as Natalie and Herbert chatted.

"Natalie, this hand will probably need about a month to heal. The flesh in this area is all torn up. The impact was brutal. That little punk wanted to kill you," Herbert said, looking at Natalie with concern.

A murderous glint flashed in Natalie's eyes.

"That's right. But I won't let him off the hook. He started this."

Herbert, aware of her situation, added, "Do you think that kid might be colluding with Sebastian and Joanna?"

Natalie replied, "It's possible. Sebastian would give his life for Joanna. If Joanna teamed up with the Spencer family, Sebastian might help her too."

"But there's no evidence yet. I found out Joanna met with Yves, but there's been no movement from Sebastian's side."

"By the time she makes a move, you'll be trapped in her scheme again," Herbert said, looking at her worriedly.

Natalie laughed in exasperation. "Can't you wish me a little good luck?"

"But you're not lucky! We warned you back then that the Scott and Griffith families were bad news. But you plunged right in for the sake of so-called family, only to get yourself hurt so badly."

"Every time I see you, I just want to shake some sense into you."

Natalie smiled and quickly changed the subject. "This bisque is delicious."

After dinner.

Ian still wouldn't leave. Natalie said with a smile, "Ian, I'm heading home soon. I can dress my wound myself. Your grandmother is about to be discharged. Have you found a place to live yet?"

From what Natalie remembered, he had sold his house to pay for his grandmother's treatment.

Ian said, "Natalie, you gave me a lot of money. I can just rent a place."

Natalie thought for a moment. "I'm sending you a passcode. There's a condo complex called Maple Lane near your university. I have a unit there. You and your grandmother can stay there for now. It'll be easier for you to look after her if you live together. I have a lot of properties and I don't like renting them out anyway. You're like a brother to me, so just take your grandmother and move in. Don't argue with me. A house needs people to feel like a home. It's spacious, the air is good, and it will be better for your grandmother's health."

At the mention of his grandmother, Ian couldn't refuse. He would repay her in the future. "Natalie, thank you!"

Natalie gave a faint smile. This was all she could do for him.
