Sebastian spotted some lobster. "I'd like steamed lobster."

"Fine," Natalie replied.

It was lobster the chef had already prepared, meant for her as a late-night snack.

Natalie pointed to a dedicated electric steamer. "Plug that in and put the lobster in to steam."

Sebastian saw that the lobster was already prepped. He followed her instructions, placing it in the steamer basket. Natalie pressed the switch, and the lobster began to cook.

Sebastian was surprised. Was cooking really this simple?

She had been gone for almost a year, and he had rarely set foot in the kitchen.

When she lived with him, the house felt cold and empty. He didn't even want to go back there now.

It was too desolate. The villa wasn't excessively large, but it felt vast and empty. When she had lived there, he always felt a sense of warmth in the house.

But the misunderstanding Natalie had about him would probably never be cleared up.

Natalie stood by the stove, not sharing Sebastian's sentimental thoughts. When the water boiled, she added the cabbage.

Then she sat on a nearby stool to wait.

Sebastian watched her under the lights. Her skin was smooth. Had she done this every night before, busying herself in the kitchen while waiting for him to come home?

He realized that all those dinners he had eaten were meticulously prepared by her, yet he had never paid any attention.

He had just thought that besides cooking, she was useless.

But she wasn't useless at all. In fact, she was more hardworking than anyone.

Sebastian watched her quietly. When she was silent, just sitting there, she was surrounded by an aura of peaceful beauty. Her posture was elegant and graceful, like a tranquil painting you wouldn't dare to disturb.

Natalie leaned against the wall, exhausted. It wasn't long before she started to doze off.

Sebastian knew she was tired. He stood by her quietly, not disturbing her.

Just as she closed her eyes, her phone rang.

She picked it up, wearily opening her eyes. Seeing it was an unknown number, she didn't want to answer and put the phone back on the nightstand.

But the phone kept vibrating, irritating her.

On the third ring, she finally picked it up.

"Hello?" Natalie's voice was tinged with annoyance and impatience.

"Natalie, are you okay? I saw that you were in a car accident…"

Natalie cut her off, exasperated. "Ma'am, I have nothing to do with you anymore. Whether I live or die is none of your business. I'm very tired. If there's nothing else, please don't bother me."

"Natalie, Mom just…"

"You're not my mother. I just came out of your womb. When I left, I paid back all the money I ever cost you. Ma'am, besides a blood connection, I really don't owe you anything."
