She refused. “Marshall, I only offered a casual suggestion. I didn’t do anything tangible to help. How about this? If you really want to help me, let’s partner up when I get back in a few days. I promise you, it’ll be a profitable venture. You won’t lose money.”

Marshall’s voice grew urgent. “Natalie, if you don’t accept the shares, I’ll feel indebted to you. Tell me, what will it take for you to accept them?”
