“Of course, Miss Tremaine,” Fred replied, stepping forward.

Benedict bristled at Fred’s approach, his face hardening as he looked at Cynthia. “You come down to the garage with me. I’ll give it to you myself.”

Cynthia refused without hesitation. “No, thank you. I’m afraid you’re emotionally unstable, and I’d rather not be around for another one of your fits.”

Benedict’s expression darkened instantly. “Have you lost even that little bit of trust in me?”

“I lost that a long time ago,” she scoffed.

He frowned, his voice low and strained. “Cynthia, we may not be a couple anymore, but we’re still business partners. How are we supposed to run this company if you don’t have an ounce of faith in me?”

Cynthia raised an eyebrow, her eyes sweeping over him dismissively. “The company will run just fine once I no longer have to partner with you.”
